As the successful Mechanical Engineer reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing engineering solutions and problem-solving capabilities to support plant efficiency and production output, whilst identifying opportunities to improve methods and ways of working. You will assist with the execution of scheduled maintenance shutdowns including leading specific tasks - planning & execution. contractor management, supervision of teams/areas as required. handovers on task status & requirements, overseeing safety standards and quality control of work carried out. On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer will include (not exhaustive):
* Reviewing competencies and facilitate availability for training requirements within the team
* Building relationships with key suppliers/contract companies & other departments onsite
* Conducting safety briefs and toolbox talks, actively participating in near hit reporting/actions & safety online actions
* Liaising with the production team to secure plant availability for maintenance and ensuring plant is handed back ready for operation
* Monitoring work activities with regular site visits, ensuring the quality of mechanical execution work is to a high standard
* Ensuring all work, including breaking has a work order, valid job plan and specific risk assessment
* Checking all planned and scheduled tasks have suitable job plans, scaffolding and parts ready for execution
* Ensuring compliance with safety rules and procedures, ensuring the team are working safely
* Achieving an acceptable schedule compliance ensuring jobs are closed out on time
The ideal Mechanical Engineer will be able to demonstrate proven experience in mechanical engineering, safety related control systems and industrial automation. You will have a technical knowledge of a cement plant and able to respond to break in work in a timely manner.
Specific requirements:
* Mechanical Engineering Degree, MBA/Masters would be an advantage
* IOSH or equivalent qualification, NEBOSH would be an advantage
* Practical and Technical (Selection) experience with refractory is required
* Organisational skills, the ability to communicate, motivate and influence indirect teams of employees
* Proven expertise in delivering mechanical engineering best practice including the required expertise for safe asset design and compliance
* Strong verbal and written communicator with the ability to instruct and train others
* Experience in investigation of maintenance issues and solution-oriented approach to resolution
* Proven experience of operating as an engineering expert
