About the role
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for delivering exceptional youth justice/ complex safeguarding services? Do you thrive in a strategic role where you can make a tangible difference?
As head of service, you will provide leadership and drive best practice in the strategic development of a “child first” approach within youth justice and complex safeguarding and translate this into operational delivery of services to children and their families. This will include securing political and high level management and stakeholder agreement in developing and delivering on strategic objectives in youth justice and complex safeguarding.
You will be responsible for the work and co-ordination of several systemic practice groups of multi-disciplinary staff, differently qualified, ensuring standards and performance targets are understood and met or exceeded.
About you
To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:
* Registration with Social Work England
* Knowledge and understanding of recent research and best practice in the field of youth justice, complex safeguarding and social care to prevent offending and reduce extra familial harm.
* An in-depth knowledge of the legal and statutory framework in which youth justice services and complex safeguarding operate is required, with evidence of successful management within a statutory youth justice or complex safeguarding setting including oversight of performance standards.
* Experience of managing significant and wide-reaching change to professional services, policy development and implementation
* An ability to implement anti-discriminatory practice including promoting anti-racist practice and addressing issues of racism, inequality and injustice

About us
The service is a multi disciplinary team with key statutory partners but also with the added richness of key agencies such as drug and alcohol services, dedicated CAMHs worker and speech and language therapist working in partnership with the service.
Bury and Rochdale Youth Justice Service and Rochdale Complex Safeguarding are both part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority work streams for Youth Justice and Complex Safeguarding and as such are part of exciting and innovative developments such as joint commissioning of Appropriate Adult Contracts, AIM training, GM Remand Pilot and the GM Transformation Plan.
