The world-famous Blackpool Tower and Merlin attractions is on the lookout for a proactive and strategic Health, Safety & Security (HSS) Advisor to lead and elevate our safety and security practices across the Blackpool Cluster attractions. This role is not just a job; itâs a chance to play a key part in ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests, employees, and contractors, while safeguarding Merlinâs reputation.
As the Health, Safety & Security Advisor for the Blackpool Cluster, you will provide functional leadership of the HSS agenda, ensuring that all safety, health, and security risks are effectively managed across our attractions. You will work closely with the Blackpool Cluster leadership team and the Regional HSS Manager (UK) to monitor and implement HSS policies, standards, and programmes. This involves the development and deployment of new initiatives to enhance safety performance and protect the magic of our attractions.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor the implementation of HSS policies, systems, procedures, and standards across the Blackpool Cluster to ensure effective safety management.
* Develop and uphold effective safety management regimes for facilities, assets, and contractor activities.
* Drive the HSS strategy for the Blackpool Cluster, setting the agenda for continuous improvement.
* Provide direction, guidance, and coaching to senior management to help them own and drive their HSS programmes.
* Present and report on HSS performance, issues, and initiatives at senior leadership meetings.
* Ensure the effective management of core risks, including ride, fire, and food safety.
* Develop strategies to reduce accidents and improve overall safety performance.
* Deliver effective HSS training as required across the Blackpool Cluster.
* Liaise with enforcement bodies in relation to incidents, near-misses, compliance, or complaints.
This is a full-time, permanent role, working any 5 days out of 7. Based in our cluster offices in the Blackpool Tower.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience and knowledge of best-in-class HSS practices and systems.
* Strong influencing and relationship management skills.
* Experience working in high-risk industries.
* Highly developed interpersonal communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
* Strong project and change management skills, with a focus on implementing beneficial changes.
* Business and commercial awareness to suggest and recommend operational improvements.
* A creative mindset, keen to trial new concepts in HSS.
* Detail-oriented with a determination to deliver a first-class HSS function.
* Problem-solving and solution-focused abilities.
* Willingness to undertake occasional travel and work during unusual hours when required.
