With their current Deputy CFO moving into a CFO position, they now have an exciting opportunity for a new leader to join their team as Deputy Chief Financial Officer for Financial Operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is crucial in leading their financial operations, providing expert financial analysis, and ensuring strong collaboration across the Trust. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in improving financial efficiency and performance, ensuring the Trust continues to deliver outstanding care while maximising value for money and maintaining financial sustainability.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Deputy CFO will work closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues across the Trust, presenting financial and business information to a wide range of stakeholders and ensuring that financial data supports informed decision making at all levels. The postholder will drive the development of the business partnering model to enhance financial support and engagement across divisions, helping to embed financial excellence as a core component of operational and strategic planning. Acting as the nominated deputy to the Chief Financial Officer, the postholder will be expected to provide leadership in all financial matters and play a key role in trust-wide financial transformation programmes.
They are looking for an experienced and confident finance leader with a strong track record in healthcare or other large, complex organisations or similarly large and multifaceted organisations. The successful candidate will have a strong technical understanding of financial reporting standards, statutory legislation, and financial control, combined with the ability to interpret government policy and assess its financial impact on the Trust. The postholder will lead on the development of financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice while fostering a culture of financial stewardship and accountability.
Beyond financial operations, the Deputy CFO will play a crucial role in shaping the Trust’s long-term financial strategy, developing robust financial plans, and ensuring alignment with national priorities and local healthcare needs. The postholder will provide expert financial analysis, oversee forecasting and risk assessment, and drive value for money initiatives to ensure the Trust can continue to deliver the highest quality of patient care. A key focus will be on liquidity and credit risk management, ensuring the Trust’s financial resilience while supporting investment in service development and innovation.
In addition to leading the finance function, the Deputy CFO will play a vital role in broader strategic and operational decision-making, working closely with executive colleagues to ensure financial sustainability is embedded in all aspects of Trust activity. The postholder will lead on the financial aspects of business cases, capital expenditure, and service transformation, ensuring that financial considerations support the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care. The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, from board members and senior clinicians to finance professionals and external partners.
