The Environmental Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for developing and monitoring our environmental health and safety systems in conjunction with the overall management team. The role will require ensuring and supporting compliance with company regulations, and implementing necessary programmes and systems while being the central point for day-to-day EHS information and issues. This is a new role within the company. We are looking for you to join our growing and expanding team.
You will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of Environmental Health, Safety, and Compliance within this facility. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing health and safety protocols to safeguard the welfare of our clients and employees and uphold regulatory standards. Salary: €40,000-€45,000
Location: Co. Louth
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communicate effectively throughout the company on EHS issues and actively participate in management meetings.
2. Develop and manage EHS programs, procedures, and work instructions.
3. Carry out EHS audits and inspections and report findings.
4. Coordinate and manage EHS related training, including inductions, staff training, etc.
5. Support the development of job hazard and risk assessments.
6. Maintain records and logs and prepare periodic reports for review.
7. Issue and track PPE requirements.
8. Effectively communicate EHS requirements to staff through meetings, toolbox talks, and learn from events.
9. Stay up-to-date with regulations related to environmental, health, and safety.
10. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
11. Maintain incident reporting systems and documentation.
12. Track and analyse incident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
13. Continuously assess and improve EHS management systems and processes.
14. Implement best practices and industry standards to enhance EHS performance.
15. Develop and monitor company performance in net zero targets.
16. Stay informed about new developments and advancements in EHS practices.
Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience:
1. Degree in Health and Safety.
2. Preferably 2 years of relevant work experience.
3. Effective communication skills to articulate safety procedures and regulations clearly to diverse audiences.
4. Proficient in computer applications and MS Office.
5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
6. Strong administrative and literacy skills for report compilation.
7. Attention to detail and the ability to collaborate.
8. A work ethic that includes a strong desire for continuous improvement.
9. Certified Manual Handling Instructor, Train the Trainer, and Occupational First Aider (additional preferable skills).
