A day in the life of…
As Maintenance Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering a great guest experience by working on your own initiative to ensure that the hotel is always operating at the highest standards. You will manage all proactive and reactive maintenance, external contractors, and hotel teams in line with the departmental budget. You will support HOD’s to ensure all teams are correctly trained in the use of equipment and health & safety standards within the hotel.
Based in the Hampton by Hilton Canterbury branch, you will be part of a team of passionate people who know that being the best doesn’t always mean working around the clock.
What do we need from you?
The role requires a combination of technical expertise, management skills, and a focus on customer service:
1. Technical Skills:
Building Systems Knowledge: Understanding the operation of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, electrical systems, and fire safety systems.
Preventive Maintenance: Ability to implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and hotel facilities.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose and fix maintenance issues, whether related to machinery, electrical systems, plumbing, or other aspects of the hotel.
Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and other relevant safety standards.
2. Management and Leadership Skills:
Team Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate the Maintenance Assistant, contractors, and technicians.
Resource Management: Ensuring that the department has the right tools and resources to complete their tasks effectively.
Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Vendor Management: Coordinating with external vendors for specialized services.
3. Customer Service and Communication:
Guest Focused: Understanding that guest satisfaction depends on a well-maintained environment.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with hotel management, staff, and guests.
Conflict Resolution: The ability to address complaints or dissatisfaction regarding maintenance issues.
Intermediate skills across plumbing, electrics, HVAC systems, appliance repair, carpentry, and painting and decorating are preferred. Expert knowledge of at least one technical skill would be advantageous to succeed with the application.
Both technical skills and experience in the management of safety & compliance are required for the role.
