We’re delighted to be launching our Water Treatment Technician Apprentice programme for 2024. This role involves repairing and maintaining our assets to ensure we can continue to deliver for our customers. You will be working within our operational business in either Drinking Water Services or Waste Water Services under the guidance of skilled professionals. What is Water Treatment? Our Drinking Water and Waste Water Operations teams operate and maintain our assets. This could range from a remote pumping station, sections of our distribution network or large treatment works. In addition to this, you will be a friendly and knowledgeable contact for customers, liaising with them to ensure excellent service delivery.This is a varied and cross-functional role, where there will be many opportunities to develop both your technical knowledge and abilities. You’ll work towards gaining a recognised professional qualification as you learn and can look forward to a long-term career with one of the South West’s largest employers. We want to find ambitious, hard-working individuals with a strong desire to succeed. You will be paid a competitive Apprentice salary starting at £17,782. You'll also be eligible for our internal bonus scheme, as well as any company-wide pay increases that are offered during this time.
How does our Apprenticeship programme work?
1. Apprenticeship structure
· This Apprenticeship is an 18-month apprenticeship programme (including End Point Assessment).
2. You will:
· Spend 3-4 days a month in a classroom environment learning theory. The training will be carried out in classroom environment with a highly knowledgeable tutor.· Along with the comprehensive theory training in the classroom, there will be practical training days on a South West Water site where you can see the whole process in real time.
3. End Point Assessment
4. · Typical End Point Assessment (EPA) period is 4 months.
What you’ll be doing:
5. Completing a Level 3 Water Process Technician or a Level 3 Water Networks Technician qualification via our training partners - a structured programme of training
6. Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by working to our approved codes of practice
7. Performing routine and non-routine tasks in accordance with the operational requirements
8. Responding to any customer queries in a positive and informative manner
9. Monitoring, optimising, and controlling processes, ensuring water quality and quantity is maintained within company standards
10. Ensuring all activities are carried out to protect the environment

26. Ideally, 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) – but for the right person, this isn’t essential
