Job summary The Welsh Government have funded a School Mental Health In-Reach initiative to cover all schools in Wales, and therefore Powys. The initiative aims to improve the wellbeing of pupils in High Schools and Primary Schools by developing teachers' skills and confidence to support pupils with lower-level mental health and wellbeing needs within their competence and within their role as teachers; and enabling access to specialist provision where this is indicated. This confidence is developed through connection, raising capacity and supporting a supportive culture in schools play a key role in delivering these outcomes by working in partnership with schools, providing consultation, supervision and training to teachers and other key professionals; and working collaboratively with staff at a range of levels and from a range of agencies to support a whole-school approach to improving mental wellbeing. While much of the clinical work will be indirect, the post holder may provide direct clinical services (including assessment of need) as required by schoolteachers following consultation.
