My client is seeking a driven Business Development Manager to help them grow their Utility Services and Connections division. If you have a strong understanding of the utility infrastructure market and a passion for building strategic relationships, this is your opportunity to thrive in a high-growth environment with purpose.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Growth: Support the delivery of the business development strategy across multiple routes to market. Identify and pursue new opportunities within the utility infrastructure sector, including electricity, gas, water, and telecoms projects.
* Market Insight: Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and new areas for growth.
* Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in the Industrial & Commercial (I&C) space—such as landowners, developers, contractors, utility providers, government bodies, and industry partners. Act as the primary contact throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
* Sales & Proposals: Lead the creation of compelling proposals and presentations, working with internal teams to align solutions with client expectations and technical capabilities.
* Contract Negotiation: Drive commercial negotiations to secure favourable terms while ensuring alignment with company goals.
* Networking: Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to grow visibility and identify new opportunities.
* Reporting: Use internal CRM systems to track activity, maintain pipeline visibility, and report on performance, trends, and insights to senior leadership.
* Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with teams across engineering, operations, and finance to support a smooth onboarding process and a consistent client experience.
* General: Support other tasks and initiatives as required in line with business needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Proven experience in business development or sales within the utility infrastructure sector.
* Established network or presence in electric, gas, water, or telecoms markets.
* Experience managing multiple services or complex offerings.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Strong writing ability and creative thinking.
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
* Familiarity with digital marketing and SEO principles is a plus.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Commercially astute and confident in negotiations.
* Comfortable networking and representing the business externally.
