An exciting opportunity has arisen in Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, working within the City of Southampton. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Learning Disabilities (CAMHS-LD) team are recruiting an Assistant Psychologist to work in their team for a fixed term 12-month contract. This is a new post that should appeal to enthusiastic and highly motivated candidates who are interested in developing skills in assessment of children with complex needs.
The successful candidate will have an Honours Degree in Psychology, upper second class or higher and experience of working with children or adults with disability, mental health, or behaviour difficulties. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and ability to engage children and young people in structured activities. Previous experience as an Assistant Psychologist including administration of psychometric assessments and behaviour observations is desirable.
Main duties of the job
You will be working as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team of friendly and highly experienced practitioners. You will have opportunities to develop specialist clinical skills in psychometric testing, parent interviews, structured observations and group interventions for PBS and Cognitive Assessment. You will contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments and care plans. You will receive regular supervision from a Clinical Psychologist and other qualified practitioners, where indicated, and will be strongly encouraged to develop professionally including applying for Doctoral training.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Psychology
Experience
* Experience, voluntary or paid, in working with children and young people (preferably experience of working with children and young people with mental health and/or additional needs)
* Knowledge of working with young people who have mental health difficulties or neurodevelopmental disorders and their families/or a demonstrated interest in this client group.
