Job Advert Location Description
We are recruiting for enthusiastic and highly skilled Director of Clinical Services/Matron/Team Lead/Clinical Lead to join an inpatient hospital team for adults with eating disorders in High Wycombe. This is a 14 bedded, specialist eating disorder service for mixed gender adults. Priory Hospital Marlow is located just outside High Wycombe, within easy access of the M40, M25, Central London, and the nearby towns of Marlow and Maidenhead.
Reporting into the Hospital Director, the Clinical Lead forms part of the hospital Senior Management Team and is wholly responsible for the clinical services operations (nursing and therapy) within the hospital.
The post holder will ensure the highest level of patient care is provided to all patients.
Your role as the DOC's will be to work closely to support the HD with the running of the Hospital. You will also oversee the much valued nursing team, with the support of full MDT team including a Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager. This role is close to Matron/Team Lead/Clinical Lead within the NHS.
The job holder must currently hold a full clean driving licence and have been qualified for 3 years.

Responsibilities
Leadership:
* The Clinical Lead play a key part in developing and delivering the hospital strategy, providing operational and clinical leadership to the team.
* Deputises for Hospital Director in their absence.
* Overall responsibility for all clinical departments' performance and governance.
* Acts as a highly visible role model, mentor and leader, creating a culture that promotes learning, development, inquiry and professionalism, celebrates achievements and shares learning to the benefit of the ward, hospital and wider division.
* Manages the delivery of the clinical services business plan ensuring the effective and efficient management and control of staffing, budgets, materials and equipment.
* Promotes an effective working relationship across the multidisciplinary teams.
* To ensure relevant staff work within the standards and frameworks of professional codes of conduct and to take remedial action as appropriate
* As part of the Senior Management team will carry out on-call duties as directed by the Hospital Director.
* Ensure site objectives are being met and encouraging a high quality of service.
Staff Management:
* Manages the ward and resources effectively, taking steps to ensure that appropriate staffing levels and skill mix of nursing experience and skills is in place including effective rota management (12 weeks in advance), annual leave/training arrangements and sickness and absence management
* Reviews staffing on a daily basis, ensuring compliance against the staffing ladders and reviews trends, under or over staffing and puts in place actions to remedy.
* Responsible for ensuring the staffing models are adhered to in the clinical services team, maintaining safe staffing levels.
* Ensures that all members of the nursing team receive clinical supervision, complete mandatory training, appraisal, and have the opportunities to further develop their careers and encourages and supports CPD applications.
* Responsible for delivering site career pathways for clinical staff, including talent mapping and succession planning.
* Addresses shortfalls in development and ensures that training and performance issues are addressed.
* Recognises and rewards positive performance by the nursing staff, commensurate with their roles and responsibilities.
* Manages and develops a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
* Responsible for ensuring that sound recruitment processes and retention plans are in place to drive down turnover and raise engagement.
* Ensures effective management of the relationship with Higher Education Institutes to support placements for all learners.
Regulation and Compliance:
* Works in conjunction with the Hospital Director to ensure delivery of the highest level of clinical and therapeutic care together with ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation, meeting quality standards and delivering against quality performance indicators. Including, CCQ Regulations Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberties is applied in accordance with Priory Policy, and national requirements.
* Accountable for ensuring timely completion and implementation of action plans in respect of regulatory and corporate requirements.
Clinical Governance:
* Provides leadership, organisation and co-ordination to ensure effective clinical governance.
* Responsible for the implementation of effective clinical interventions and ensures that treatment is designed to enhance the operation and quality of clinical services and is aligned to best practice.
* Ensures that Incident reporting is completed promptly and takes corrective action where required, engaging colleagues in the process, where appropriate.
* Leads Team reviews of incidents; makes sure that staff receive incident debriefs in a timely way.
* Deliver coaching and training as necessary in relation to developing and improving quality and practice.
* Contributes to the development of Priory policies, procedures, processes and initiatives.
* You will be expected to provide cover and support to the wider team and site as and when needed.
* Liaise with the ward pharmacist and acts promptly regarding items identified by pharmacist audits, or other requirements.
* Undertakes and completes clinical investigations and complaints and also HR investigations, ensuring these are completed thoroughly, promptly and to a high standard.
Knowledge / Education / Skills
* Professional NMC registration.
* Strong clinical experience in ED and evidence of continuing professional development.
* A detailed understanding of statutory regulations is essential.
* Passionate about providing high quality care and continuous improvement.
* Experience devising and undertaking quality improvement projects and evidence based evidence.
* Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills essential.
* Forward thinking, proactive and creative
* The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment.
* High levels of integrity and boundaries.
Experience
* Experience of working at a supervisory or managerial level within a relevant clinical setting; minimum 2 years working as a Ward Manager or equivalent.
* Experience of managing a clinical budget.
* Strong background within leadership and people management.
* Experience of leading, implementing and reviewing quality initiatives in a related environment.
