Key Responsibilities:
1. Create and iterate user-centred content that meets GDS guidelines.
2. Work within multidisciplinary teams including User Researchers, Service Designers, Interaction Designers, and Developers.
3. Conduct and apply user research to guide content decisions.
4. Map out user journeys and design content to support the full user experience.
5. Champion plain English, accessibility, and inclusive design principles.
6. Participate in content critiques, peer reviews, and assure content quality across services.
7. Support the wider team in understanding GDS principles and ensuring content meets government standards.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. Proven experience working as a Content Designer in an agile environment, ideally on UK Government digital services.
2. Deep knowledge of GDS service design standards and best practices.
3. Strong understanding of user-centered design, accessibility, and content strategy.
4. Skilled at simplifying complex information for diverse user groups.
5. Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
6. Experience using content management systems (CMS) and collaboration tools like Confluence, Jira, or similar.
Desirable:
1. Previous experience working on Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases within GDS project lifecycles.
2. Understanding of prototyping and user-testing methods.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Salary: GBP £550 daily
