Your Role
– What You’ll Be Doing:

As Senior Legal Advisor, you will be responsible for providing legal, commercial and contractual advice, combined with an understanding of IM’s regulatory landscape, and at times in a strategic setting. Your advice will support the IM Group entities to remain compliant with its contractual, regulatory and legal obligations. You will need to develop a strong understanding of core operational areas of GCT, including In-House Legal (IHL) and others, and the wider business (including our Practice Areas and Group Services). Your key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:
1. Review, advise on and negotiate a variety of contracts including (non-exhaustive) supplier, SaaS, consultancy, sponsorship, legal panel and referral agreements within the contracting parameters and risk appetite set by IM’s Group entities
2. Support the management of legal operations, including the triage and delegation of all new queries received into the IHL inbox, supporting other colleagues as necessary
3. Resolve BAU and ad-hoc queries on a daily basis with a particular focus on commercial and strategic enablement, and deal with complex queries with guidance and supervision
4. Understand key operations of each Practice Area and Group Services and ensure legal advice is contextual, pragmatic and commercial
5. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the IM Group
6. Identify and explore opportunities to build and integrate legal operational efficiencies in IHL and GCT
7. Identify and escalate potential risks, compliance or reputational concerns
8. Develop a strong understanding of the day to day operations of IHL and commercial appetite of each IM Group entity
9. Develop a strong understanding of key regulators underpinning the operations of each IM Group entity, e.g., SRA, FCA, ICO, ASA, CAP rules, relevant legislation and guidance
10. Undertake legal research and identify any relevant legal and regulatory changes that may impact IM Group
11. Support GCT and wider firm projects
12. Meet personal KPIs and also work as part of a team to ensure GCT meets its wider KPIs
13. Be commercially enabling when responding to and resolving queries
14. Demonstrate Irwin Mitchell’s key values / behaviours in daily work
About You
15. Proven experience in reviewing, advising on and drafting a variety of commercial contracts
16. A friendly, enthusiastic, personable and can-do approach
17. Great communication skills, both written and verbal
