Job summary
This band 7 opportunity has arisen in our Stroke and neurosciences services at Charing Cross Hospital and St Marys Hospital. We have Hyperacute and acute stroke units, level 2 neuro rehab unit, neurology and neurosurgery and major trauma within the Trust. The services work in partnership with our community services to provide pathways from admission to transfer of care into the community. The service is multidisciplinary with leadership from our Consultants in Stroke, Neurology, neurosurgery and trauma Care.
You will be the band 7 therapist for the service. You will support the therapy staff to deliver high quality neuro specialist Occupational therapy. You will be able to support the MDT to develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes whilst working to within the services standards of care set by the commissioners. The team is supported with a dedicated team of nurses and healthcare assistants including a clinical nurse specialists.
You will work closely with our partners in the community to ensure a seamless integrated service for patients from hospital to the community services. You will work as an integral member of the MDT. You will support the training requirements of the MDT team and occupational therapy junior staff and students.
The post holder must be an effective communicator with neuro-rehabilitation clinical skills and experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams. The role will require a range of skills: clinical, supervisory, educational, service development and review.
The post holder will be supported by the 8a Clinical Lead therapists Neurosciences/stroke.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder may lead a team and be responsible for providing an advanced standard of care to patients at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust, which covers a multi-cultural and diverse population. The post holder will supervise the work of other more junior staff and support workers. The post holder may be rotational and will be expected to work across all sites of the ICHNT. The post holder will assist the Clinical Lead in contributing to the planning, coordination, development and evaluation of the service. Together with other senior staff, you will act as a resource of specialist advice to the rest of the therapy service and other professions.
* For therapy services where there is current weekend working, the post holder is required to work at weekends as part of their contracted hours of work once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies (specific rota details are held locally within departments).
* For physiotherapy services where there is an on call service: The post holder is required to participate in the overnight on call rota and will do so once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies (specific rota details are held locally within departments).

Education/ Qualifications Essential
* Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
* State registration with the Health Professions Council
* Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio, especially in the relevant clinical area
* Clinical Educators course or equivalent

* Membership of the Professional Organisation
* Membership of Professional special interest groups relevant to speciality
Experience Essential
* Significant recent clinical experience in relevant clinical area
