Inbound Freight Manager Location: Doncaster or Leeds Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience The Inbound Freight Manager is responsible for managing the seamless and cost-efficient transportation and delivery of goods from suppliers to the company's facilities. The Inbound Freight Manager will possess excellent communication skills, including coordinating with freight carriers, optimising shipping operations, and ensuring inbound shipments are timely, budget-friendly, and compliant with all regulations. Main Responsibilities: Inbound Freight Management: Oversee the inbound freight process to ensure accurate and timely delivery to warehouses or third-party locations Collaborate with suppliers, freight carriers, and internal teams to arrange transportation schedules, routes, and special handling requirements Carrier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, third-party logistics providers, and other transportation partners Monitor carrier performance, analyse KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, damage rates), and address shipping issues or claims. Continuously improve shipping processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure exceptional service Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all inbound shipments comply with customs, tariffs, import/export laws, and other regulations Maintain accurate records of shipments, including bills of lading, invoices, shipping notices, and customs documents Prepare and present inbound logistics performance reports to senior management Budget and Cost Management: Develop and manage the inbound freight budget, keeping transportation costs within set parameters Identify cost-saving opportunities through shipment consolidation, carrier optimisation, and process improvements Track and report freight spend, variances, and budget performance metrics Issue Resolution and Problem Solving: Address and resolve challenges during the inbound shipping process, such as delays, damages, lost shipments, or documentation discrepancies Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve issues promptly, minimising operational impact Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of logistics and freight professionals, providing guidance, training, and feedback.
