Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior BI Developer Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business intelligence, data analysis, and project management. This role requires a deep understanding of SQL, Data Factory, Azure, and project analysis. Experience with .NET and Cognos is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leading the design, development, and optimization of intricate SQL databases to fulfil business needs effectively and efficiently, with a strong emphasis on performance.
2. Utilizing extensive expertise and experience to investigate and resolve complex database issues.
3. Offering technical leadership on database projects to steer the team towards best practices and innovative solutions.
4. Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database architectures, processes, and best practices.
5. Providing technical assistance to DIS IT, with an aim to provide cover for any absences.
6. Conducting project analysis to identify business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
7. Actively identifying and resolving database performance issues to ensure scalability and responsiveness.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
1. Strong knowledge of SQL Server stack (SSRS, SSIS, SQL Azure, Data Factory) and project analysis, with at least 5 years of development experience.
2. Experience working in a LIVE environment, using source control to maintain a robust release cycle.
3. A good knowledge of TSQL, Data Factory, Azure is essential. Knowledge of .NET and Cognos is an advantage.
4. Strong analytical and documentation skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to liaise with business users and design solutions based on requirements.
5. Educated to degree level in a mathematical and/or IT discipline is desirable, but relevant SQL Server experience in a similar role will be considered.
6. Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
7. Good insurance experience required, especially Lloyd's and/or London market.
8. Good verbal and written communication skills, able to participate well in meetings and present ideas clearly and concisely. Must be confident and professional and able to liaise with colleagues, clients, and external companies.
9. Able to work to a deadline and under pressure, while maintaining accuracy and fail-safes, using their own initiative whilst being flexible in terms of tasks performed and hours worked.
10. Be an efficient and effective team member and participate fully to achieve team goals. Demonstrates a high level of energy and personal commitment.
11. Demonstrate good planning and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
