The role
As a Supportability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers a unique chance to be part of the Type 26 (T26) Frigate Support Engineering Team. You will collaborate with highly qualified and knowledgeable Engineers, Managers, and Technicians to deliver support for this new class of Royal Navy warship.
Day-to-day, you’ll work collaboratively to deliver through-life support for this class of complex warship. Your daily responsibilities will include:
1. Applying Availability, Reliability, Maintainability & Sustainability (ARM&S) and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) principles to engineering processes and activities to support T26 Through Life Management.
2. Providing support for design change activities as required.
3. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and interpreting customer requirements to optimise the Support Engineering team activities.
4. Working with stakeholders to enable access to and transfer of contracted through-life support products and information from the Build Environment to the In-Service Support Community.
5. Developing and delivering assured technical reports and other engineering deliverables to the required standard in a timely manner.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Supportability Engineer
1. Experience in delivering through-life support for complex assets.
2. In-service support experience and familiarity with engineering design and maintenance processes.
3. Understanding of ARM&S and ILS principles.
4. Knowledge of systems engineering and experience in high-performing teams.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in writing high-quality technical reports.
6. Application of project management methodologies.
Qualifications for the Supportability Engineer
1. Degree qualified in Engineering discipline or lower qualification with extensive experience will also be considered.
2. Professionally registered Engineer or working towards, IEng or CEng with an approved engineering institution or willingness to work towards as part of continuous professional development.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
