Job summary Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Orthopaedics, Band 7 Permanent West Middlesex University Hospital - Isleworth We are looking for a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) to join our Orthopaedics team in Planned Care. We are very excited to be expanding our Advanced Clinical Practitioner workforce in our high achieving and friendly Trauma and Orthopaedics team. We are looking for a tACP, who is looking for a new challenge and will be focused on the care of elective orthopaedics patients, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. With support of the senior medical team, the tACP will be supported towards being accountable for independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions. In addition to this, the tACP will be supported towards developing skills and capabilities to appropriately refer patients to relevant specialties for any necessary inpatient or outpatient investigations as well as facilitating safe patient discharge. Main duties of the job The tACP will use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare autonomously to patients in their area. This will be focused on the care of elective orthopedics patients, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. With supervision and guidance from the senior medical team, the trainee ACP will be supported towards being accountable for independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions and refer patients to relevant specialties for any necessary inpatient or outpatient investigations as well as facilitating safe patient discharge. The post holder will be a registered nurse or registered healthcare professional and will undertake an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice as part of the role. Throughout the training program the tACP will have access to an educational supervisor and a clinical supervisor who will support in developing a training pathway based upon previous experience. Upon successful completion of the master's pathway and internal competencies the post holder will be assessed for clinical competence to progress from a band 7 tACP role to a qualified ACP role at an 8a. The role will include participating in audit and research projects, and participating in up-dating and implementing departmental policies, protocols and guidelines, in line with national guidance and contemporary evidence.
