I'm currently working in partnership with a leading facilities management and service provider with the crucial hire of an Airfield Operations Manager (AOM) into their Defence division to provide full management and the safe and efficient delivery of airfield operations and services for the UK military base on Ascension Island, South Atlantic.

Location: Ascension Island, South Atlantic
Overview
This is a senior management position responsible for the contract delivery of airside services, and the continuous development of airfield operations to underpin the South Atlantic Air Bridge and future contracts.
Main Duties
The primary role is to ensure all aircraft activities, movements and other associated activities are completed in accordance with MAA & CAA (as applicable) rules and procedures for such activities.
Directly responsible for the management and oversight of all departments at the airfield.
Line manager responsibilities for Supply Section, Base Ops, Airport Security, Fuels &Lubricants, Mechanical Section, Motor Transport, General Engineering, and Visiting Aircraft Department.
Ensuring all airfield engineering standards, practices and procedures are implemented and maintained
As AOM, work with the QSHE Team to lead a Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental culture ensuring a robust and meaningful programme of safety awareness delivered consistently across the airfield activities
Ensuring that personnel are only employed on work appropriate to their training, qualification and experience.
Advise the client on all airfield and associated activities on Ascension Island Base
Key
Minimum of 5 years' experience either in military or civilian airfield operations
Previous managerial experience at a senior level
Ability to work well under pressure, logical problem solving with accuracy and attention to detail
Knowledge of AvSec procedures is desirable
ICAO Aviation Security Managers Course desirable
Flight planning experience desirable
PCMI ( Post Crash Incident Management) desirable
Experience in airfield maintenance procedures desirable
Full clean driving licence essential
Must be able to pass company medical essential
Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance essential
