Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join us as the Team Leader for our Stroke Unit. This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week. There is a requirement for weekend and bank holiday working on a rota system.
The unit consists of hyper acute, acute and rehabilitation beds and you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of speech and language therapy services for these patients. We currently our a recruitment site for Pharyngeal Electrical Stimulation for Acute Stroke dysphagia Trial (PhEAST). You will have access to a weekly videofluoroscopy service and will be part of an emerging FEES service.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide clinical and team leadership to a small but growing team of Speech and Language Therapists including sickness, supervision and appraisals. They will be responsible for day to day coordination of the team and case load management.
They will also provide expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties providing senior support for the team.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Highly specialist knowledge underpinned by current evidencebased practice
* Well-established knowledge of a broad range of assessments relevant to specialist client group and extensive knowledge of a range of appropriate specialist therapeutic interventions
* Proven application of current theories and practices on rehabilitation
* Highly developed specialist skills related to dysphagia management
* Evidence of strong commitment to team and partnership working, and leadership skills
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency
* Demonstrates flexibility of working and appropriate understanding of roles within a team
* Well-established negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
* Knowledge of current Department of Health policies
* Well-established knowledge of national policies, guidelines and procedures related to client group
* Demonstrates an understanding of Speech and Language Therapy services in the context of the wider NHS structure
* Established organizational skills and experience of caseload management in rehabilitation
* Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy skills
* Excellent presentation skills both written and verbal
* Enthusiasm to become involved in new initiatives
Qualifications
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification.
* Additional postgraduate training up to master's degree equivalent.
* Health and Care Professions Council - License to Practice
* Registered member of RCSLT
* Post-graduate experience in specialist area
* Masters Degree
