We are seeking individuals with great attention to detail and a proactive approach to join our Brokerage department. As a Brokerage Clerk, you will be completing import entries and circulating documentation in a manner outlined in our SLA to ensure that the Metro Group meets its ever-expanding brokerage obligations. You will also be involved in an ongoing best practice support process for both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational responsibilities:
* Liaise both internally and with the external client base regarding customs clearance issues.
* Generate import operational files from scratch.
* Generate import customs entries for both EU and ROW consignments.
* Engage directly with customers regarding applicable preferential duty rates and processes.
* Maintain support for existing clients during transition or development of new business and/or offer support for new clients during transition.
* Provide direct liaison and support for clients regarding the issuance and distribution of import documentation.
Commercial responsibilities:
* Address client enquiries in a timely manner and share with stakeholders.
* Refer any issues or procedures likely to bring the company or clients into conflict with HMRC.
* Review and comment on import requests in relation to compliance and legal requirements.
* Comply with company training procedures and maintain a clear understanding of financial obligations in terms of deferment and invoicing.
* Liaise with internal operational import teams to ensure all entries are submitted in line with service SOP conditions.
* Liaise with the external client base to ensure all entries are submitted in line with off-service SOP conditions.
* Maintain personal training to ensure technical knowledge remains current and valid.
* Respond to email queries on the same day as receipt, sending a ‘holding message’ if further information is required.
Key Experience & Skills:
* Preferably degree-level education or experience in a similar operating environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent planning and attention to detail.
* Willingness to work overtime, weekends and/or be flexible in start/finish times.
* Ability to demonstrate a logical, structured, proactive, and objective approach.
* Ability to analyse data and produce customs compliant documentation.
* European language skills are beneficial.
* Adept with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
* Knowledge of CW1 for brokerage purposes is beneficial.

Our Brokerage Department is full-time in the office and works on a three-week shift pattern of 7am-3:30pm / 8:30am-5pm / 10:30am-7pm.
