OSS Project Manager - Telecommunications
Location: Reading, UK
Duration: 6 months
Working model: Hybrid. 2-3 days per week on site
OSS (Operations Support Systems) experience is essential.
About the Role:
An international telecommunications organisation is seeking an experienced OSS Project Manager. You will work for the organisation to support a commercial focused project. You will be responsible for supporting data segregation delivery.
You must be a Project Manager with a proven background in effective delivery of telecommunication projects. You will be expected to deliver on the project within restricted timelines. You will be responsible for the delivery of the building, testing and go live phases of the project.
Key responsibilities:
OSS Project Governance
1. Oversee standard project management activities.
2. Manage project plans, delivery governance, and tracking.
3. Engage with business users and stakeholders.
4. Oversee the full lifecycle management of projects.
5. Manage deployment and go-live processes.
OSS Test Management
1. Ensure the quality of deliverables by implementing robust test strategies and planning.
2. Engage third-party test teams where required.
3. Govern test execution and track progress.
4. Manage defect tracking and resolution.
5. Provide test completion reports and oversee sign-off.
Required Experience:
Project Management & Governance:
1. Strong experience in OSS project management and governance.
2. Proven track record in project planning, tracking, and delivery management.
3. Experienced in stakeholder engagement across multiple business functions.
4. Knowledge of VPDL lifecycle management and deployment/go-live processes.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
1. Experienced in test strategy development and execution.
2. Familiarity with test governance, progress tracking, and defect management.
3. Ability to coordinate third-party test teams if needed.
4. Experienced in delivering test completion reports and managing signoffs.
Business & Operations Engagement:
1. Strong ability to collaborate with business teams to define and align process changes.
2. Experienced in working across large-scale, cross-functional teams.
3. Experienced in change management processes within an OSS environment.
Data Classification & Migration:
1. Experienced in data governance and classification frameworks.
2. Familiarity with data classification tools (e.g., FL Cramer, FL Remedy, InfoBlox IPAM) or similar.
3. Ability to engage with data owners across different networks and business areas.
4. Experienced in planning and tracking data classification and user role migrations.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Proven experience in OSS project management, testing, and data governance.
2. Experienced in telecom, IT operations, or large-scale enterprise environments.
3. Strong knowledge of ITIL processes, OSS/BSS systems, and service management.
4. Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile methodologies).
5. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
