Fennies is now looking to appoint a new role of Design Manager which is a critical role for us as we continue to expand. Key responsibilities for this role include: Management of the design process for all projects from conception to completion on site (RIBA Stages 0-6) including producing and monitoring design programmes, reviewing design information and chairing design team meetings Working directly with the acquisitions team to manage projects from the outset including planning application submissions Appointment of external design consultants including defining the scope of services Management of design information and issues Chairing design reviews and presentations Management of relationships Monitoring design changes and implement change control procedures for client agreement Working with the operations and education teams at Fennies to develop practical and inspiring learning spaces for both children and the teams in collaboration with the design team Assisting the project QS in the preparation and evaluation of procurement information Development of processes to improve efficiency of design stages Assisting the Construction Manager to obtain Building Control approvals Undertaking quality inspections on site to provide reports and ensure compliance with the design/contract information Management of RFIs and technical queries during detailed design and construction stages Development of post-completion project reviews to improve internal processes and provide feedback to design team The right candidate will have at least 7 years’ experience working within the construction industry for developers, main contractors or consultants. Experience of management of pre-construction design stages is essential.
