More about the Role
Make a Difference in the Lives of Adults with Learning Disabilities!
We’re looking for an individual to join our core team at Sesame covering 8am-8pm on Sundays. There is also likely to be regular overtime available to cover annual leave and sickness, although this is not guaranteed.
You’ll be joining our committed team, working to provide our residents with personalised, high-quality support. Your day-to-day tasks will vary, but will include:
• Delivering high-quality personal care, ensuring dignity and respect are always maintained.
• Assisting residents in developing independence and achieving their goals.
• Creating engaging activities and supporting participation.
• Contributing to a positive and supportive home environment.
• Working as a team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
We maintain staffing ratios of 1:2 for night shifts and either 1:1 or 2:1 for day shifts, depending on the resident's needs. With four permanent residents you will quickly become familiar with both our residents and the team.
About you
We're looking for an individual who:
• Is caring and compassionate, with an understanding of person-centred care.
• Possesses excellent communication skills (experience with non-verbal communication such as Makaton, BSL, or PECS is advantageous).
• Ideally has experience supporting people with learning disabilities in a residential setting (other relevant experience is also welcome).
• Is flexible, adaptable, and responsive to changing needs.
• Understands safeguarding and risk assessments.
Job Benefits
We’re passionate about supporting our staff just as much as we are about supporting our service users. When you join our team, you can expect:
• A Real Living Wage of £12.00 per hour minimum
• 28 days holiday per year, rising to 33 days over 5 years.
• A fully funded DBS check and update service to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
• Access to valuable resources, including an employee assistance program to support your mental and emotional health.
