This role is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation and management of compensation and benefit programmes to attract, retain and motivate employees. Location | Leeds/London Type | Maternity cover (approximately 13 months from February 2025) Key Responsibilities The role involves day-to-day responsibility for developing reward strategies, managing performance-related pay, conducting market benchmarking and providing insight to senior management on compensation trends and best practice. Specific responsibilities include: Governance, Data & Management Information Support the Chief People Officer to deliver effective governance of the remuneration arrangements through the Board's Remuneration Committee. Support RemCo meetings – timely papers, stakeholder management of members. Ensure SPW complies with the Board agreed Remuneration Policy by establishing, implementing and maintaining remuneration practices that are compliant with the SPW remuneration Policy, risk philosophy and regulatory requirements. Within the People team establish, implement and maintain remuneration policies, procedures and practices that adhere to SPW’s remuneration philosophy and are consistent with and promote principles of effective risk management. Use Reward expertise to design, develop and implement Reward policies and processes to support the business strategy. Work proactively with stakeholders to embed the Reward strategy, policies and processes. Participate in external networks, keeping abreast of regulatory and market developments in order to inform decision-making. Maintain knowledge of market benchmarking and trends, in particular, participate in annual McLagan Compensation survey. Maintain the list of Material Risk Takers. Maintain accurate Reward regulatory reporting and disclosures, and ensure Reward policies and documentation are up to date and reviewed by relevant governance. Track HR Key Performance Indicators, Risk Appetite Metrics, Key Risk Indicators, OpCo and RiskCo reporting. Business Partnering Influence stakeholders, providing guidance, advice and challenge in order to support the delivery of SPW Reward and People strategy. Partner the business by providing technical Reward advice and guidance, anticipating and providing solutions to a range of Reward issues, including pay, pensions and benefits. Deliver the annual Pay and Bonus project on time and in budget. Accurate delivery of payroll, pension and benefits supporting strategic aims and within risk tolerance. Model changes to reward for multiple colleagues and present data clearly. Add commentary and analysis to bring data to life, and suggest required actions. Write content which facilitates the effective communication of Reward policy and processes. Professional stakeholder management of senior individuals on Reward-related projects, keeping them informed of progress and support. Business awareness of the roles in SPW and ability to benchmark them to external market Reward data. Recommendation of market-aligned new hire packages including buy-outs, assurances and guarantees. Ensure relevant action planning post engagement surveys / Harkn feedback / other colleague queries and issues raised. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (“DEI”) Design our SPW DEI Strategy annually. Encourage the delivery of our DEI Strategy, integrated into the broader CSR agenda, with support from our Diversity Networks and the wider People Team. Support and steer the DEI Networks, encouraging coordination between networks as well as connectivity with Lloyds and Schroders. Qualifications & Skills The jobholder will possess a strong background and experience in human resources, compensation and benefits, and performance management. The jobholder will also possess in-depth knowledge of typical elements of Reward in financial services companies. Bachelor's or advanced degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field. Extensive experience in designing and implementing reward strategies, managing compensation structures, overseeing performance management systems, and ensuring compliance with regulations required. Strong knowledge required across all aspects of the Reward package; fixed and variable pay, long term incentive plans, benefits, pension plans, as well as non-standard elements of Reward such as buy-outs and retention awards. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Proficiency in payroll oversight, managing a team of payroll experts, ensuring an efficient and robust monthly process. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, confidence when communicating with the Board and senior management. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Leadership skills to ensure that we create a positive working environment and an engaged, successful People team. Professional certifications such as CIPD, or similar credentials are advantageous.
