About the Role:
As HSQE Advisor, you will be responsible for coordinating, supporting, and advising the business on all aspects related to health, safety, quality, and the environment. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and standards, company policies, and implementing continuous improvements. The role also provides support to the HR function, contributing to people related processes and a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain compliance with company HSQE policies, procedures, and third-party accreditations
* Ensure the implementation, maintenance, and auditing of HSQE management systems in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001
* Conduct internal and external HSQE audits, including site-based inspections and construction-related audits
* Support the delivery of the company's duties under CDM regulations, including preparation of construction phase plans, risk assessments, method statements, O&M manuals, and acting in Principal Contractor/Designer roles when required
* Investigate all non-conformities, incidents, near misses, and safety observations, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
* Produce monthly HSQE reports, highlighting key metrics, trends, and recommending improvements
* Lead and support health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns across the business
* Keep up to date with evolving legislation, industry standards, and best practices, and ensure these are reflected in company processes
* Maintain and monitor HSQE-related trackers (e.g. training matrix, lifting equipment, calibration schedules)
* Communicate and liaise with clients, contractors, and external bodies on HSQE matters
* Perform risk assessments and ensure regular reviews and updates as required
* Provide administrative and coordination support to the HR function
* Assist with training records, inductions, absence and holiday tracking, and general HR documentation
* Support wellbeing and engagement initiatives, working closely with line managers and the wider HR team
Key Competencies and Skills:
Essential attributes
* NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated experience in a HSQE role, ideally within construction, utilities, or engineering sectors
* In-depth understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and ISO standards
* Strong auditing, investigation, and reporting skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging all levels of the business
* IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable attributes
* ISO 9001/14001/45001 Internal Auditor Qualification
* IOSH Membership
* Experience supporting HR or people-focused processes
* Familiarity with ISO 50001 and Energy Management would be an advantage
