To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Design Lead to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team ideally based in our Southampton, Newcastle, Manchester or Birmingham offices. However, we could consider this role based out of any of our UK offices.
This role is to support our Strategic Road Network lighting team within the Highway sector, and you will have the opportunity to work on a range of significant projects based on the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) framework, working on Highways maintenance projects based in areas of North-West, Eastern and Southern National Highway regions.
A little more about your role…
As Design Lead, you will support National Highways in delivering projects for the SDF Framework and support the Lighting Team Leader in delivery quality control and assurance.
A typical week:
You will be required to assist with the document control for all documents received and issued from the SDF Team leaders for North-West, Eastern or Super South region. Duties will include:
* Dealing with general day-to-day project administration tasks
* Stakeholder Support
* Support Project Manager with procurement – purchase Orders and invoicing
* Management of Project Charge Codes, monitoring, programming and management of delivery programmes
* Assisting the Project Management team in undertaking project reviews and delivering outcome reporting
* Lighting designs using Lighting Reality design or similar software
* Produce MCHW specification and supporting documentation
* Involvement in asset clash detection and resolving clashes at BIM level 2 desirable
* Development of Risk Assessments and design decision documentation
* Site visits may be required which include checking of road lighting and lit signage assets and feeder pillars for safe installation (G39 and ECS card desirable)
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* Achieved minimum of EngTech and working towards registration with the Engineering Council (EngTech, IEng or CEng)
* Proficient in the use of Lighting Reality Design Software and AutoCAD
* Have a good electrical design and operations knowledge and understanding
* Are able to demonstrate competency and experience within a lighting design project
* Desirable to be seeking consideration of environmental factors into Highway lighting design
* Able to support with the development of junior members of the design team
* A good understanding of the design and implementation of central management system technology
* Are able to work independently and as part of a team
* Can prioritise and be flexible
* Experience of working within the Highway sector
* You should have fluent spoken and written English and have a good level of IT skills
