Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Deputy Manager to join our team in providing exceptional care within our nursing home environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing clinical operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, and supporting the management team. This position requires strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of clinical practices, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
The role is for 40 hours per week, working in accordance with an agreed rota, to include emergency cover, weekend work and ‘on call’ as required.
Responsibilities
1. Supervise and manage nursing staff to ensure effective delivery of patient care.
2. Administer medications and oversee medication management processes.
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual resident needs.
4. Provide direct patient care, including support for residents with dementia and other complex health conditions.
5. Conduct regular assessments of resident health status and adjust care plans as necessary.
6. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing home environment.
7. Facilitate training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills in patient care and case management.
8. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records and clinical activities.
9. Carry out pre-admission assessments for potential new residents, taking appropriate handovers and sharing information with relevant departments.
10. To liaise with the home manager to ensure DoLS referrals are made and kept up to date for residents following appropriate MCA and best interest assessments, working within the scope of the Mental Capacity Act to ensure residents' legal rights are protected.
11. Act as a role model for good clinical and care governance practice.
12. Completing regular care reviews involving residents and their representatives.
13. Maintaining the digital care plan system ‘Person Centred Software’, ensuring this is kept up to date and monitored, and care plans are reflective of individual needs.
14. Maintaining the Electronic Medicines Administration Records (eMAR) within the home.
Qualifications
1. A valid nursing qualification RGN/RMN/RNLD and registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
2. Proven experience in a clinical leadership role, preferably within a nursing home or assisted living setting.
3. Strong knowledge of anatomy, medication administration, and patient care protocols.
4. Experience in supervising staff and managing teams effectively.
5. Familiarity with dementia care practices and the specific needs of elderly patients.
6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
