We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 3 Senior General Services Assistant. You will work closely with our General Service Assistants (GSA) Supervisor in leading our friendly and committed team at Falmouth Community Hospital. This role will require the post holder to be committed to support us in maintaining and improving our standards. You will need to work flexibly (including some weekends) in order to meet Service needs and work well as part of a team.
This post would suit a person with a mature, common sense approach, who will work well within a team. The Senior GSA post is part-time, working 30 hours per week, which includes some weekends. Duties will include supervision of staff, managing work rosters, control of stock, maintaining cleanliness, auditing standards, and occasional preparation and serving of food.
There will be a requirement to occasionally support Newquay Community Hospital in this role.

Main duties of the job
The purpose of the post is:
* To assist the GSA Supervisor, Clinical Matron, and Department Heads, but not take overall responsibility for providing a full range of hotel services within the hospital.
* To monitor, audit, and report standards within the Hotel Services remit.
* To support GSA's and act as their role model.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Good standard of education - Maths and English or equivalent.
* Previous cleaning/catering experience in a hospital or similar environment.
* Previous experience of management and leadership role.
Skills and Aptitude
Knowledge and abilities
* Awareness of COSHH.
* Awareness of Health & Safety Legislation.
* Awareness of HR procedures and staff support systems.
* Able to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and members of the public.
