Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Credit Team lead, the role will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of a fast paced credit & collections function.
You will apply a structured approach to analyse and credit assess our retailer estate alongside staying up to date with the economic factors affecting our retailers. Managing credit risk and ensuring retailer exposure is minimal is vital to success.
Ensuring retailer collection processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Ensuring risk is managed and reviewed periodically and security bonds are maintained to minimise exposure to bad debts.
Provide sufficient resolutions to problems and queries to accounts receivable processes.
Role Responsibilities:
Reporting & Cash Collection
* Preparing and releasing the weekly collection file accurately and on time.
* Complete daily cash banking/posting, allocation and reconciliation.
* Maintain accurate retailer accounts
* Prepare bond repayment files for approval
* Release files to the bank via PTX
Credit Management
* Work closely with our debt collection partner, ensuring weekly files are shared and actions are logged.
* Complete weekly exposure reviews and report on movement to exposure.
* Ensure security bonds are requested and returned in line with policy and that records are maintained.
* Mitigate against exposure and risk of bad debt as a SME using the latest tools available.
* Manage and act on all monitoring alerts informing us of financial change.
* Review and make decision on credit reports in line with credit policy.
* Agree and arrange retailer payment plans in line with policy.
* Chase all outstanding debts by email, phone and SMS
Retailer Support
* Where necessary support the credit control team Handling inbound calls resolving queries & dealing with disputes.
* Ensure policy is followed and where stated finance cancels are issued and followed through to termination.
* Ensure accurate final balances are produced in a timely manner
Key Measures of Success:
* Reduction in bad debt year on year
* Surety bonds returned and retained in line with bond policy
* All cash posted on time and general ledger balance sheets fully reconciled each month
* Exposure and risk minimised through active monitoring
Key Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working in a volume driven call handling environment
* CICM qualification (Desirable)
* Experience of interpreting credit reports to support decision making
* Min 3 years experience in previous Credit Analyst roles
* Experience of partnering with debt collection agencies/credit agencies
* Excellent communications skills (written/verbal)
* Experience of systems used (SAP, ES)
* Ability to work under pressure
* Accuracy and problem solving
* Excellent organisational skills
