Are you a skilled Fire and Security Engineer with extensive hands-on experience? We are looking for a highly competent professional to join a leading fire and security solutions provider. This role is ideal for an engineer with 5-10 years of experience who can work across a broad range of fire and security systems, including open protocol fire alarms, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.
About the Role
As a Fire and Security Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, commissioning, and troubleshooting a wide variety of fire and security systems. The role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service. Covering the North East region, with occasional travel to the Midlands and Scotland (M8 Corridor), this position offers a varied and rewarding workload.
Key Responsibilities
* Installation, maintenance, and commissioning of fire alarms, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.
* Working with open protocol fire systems and various security brands, including Galaxy and Honeywell.
* Diagnosing and rectifying faults to ensure full system functionality.
* Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and emergency call-outs.
* Ensuring all work complies with industry regulations, health & safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
* Providing expert technical support to clients and colleagues.
* Managing documentation and reports, including system handovers and compliance records.
* Participating in an on-call rota (1 in 4 weeks) and working overtime as required.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
* 5-10 years of experience in fire and security engineering.
* Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms.
* Experience with Galaxy, Honeywell, and open protocol fire systems.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Excellent fault-finding, commissioning, and installation skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
* Industry qualifications such as FIA, ECS, or equivalent certifications.
* Experience working with commercial and residential clients.
