Flexible working hours Contract : 12 Months fixed term contract Ref No: HRJOB10473 Business Unit : Almac Discovery Location : Edinburgh, United Kingdom Open To : Internal & External Candidates The Role Working as part of the Protein Therapeutics team, the successful candidate will have research experience in protein sciences and will be involved in the expression, engineering and characterisation of novel protein therapeutics targeting cancer. The team are responsible for the delivery of protein molecules and bioconjugates for biological testing, ensuring that project deliverables and timelines are met. Primary responsibilities will include the generation of recombinant proteins, protein engineering and bioconjugation, and the characterization and analysis of proteins using a variety of analytical and biochemical techniques. Experience in recombinant protein expression, engineering and / or conjugation is required for the role. The role will also include liaising with other groups both internally and externally to ensure compounds are delivered for testing (e.g. biological assays, structural biology, PK and efficacy studies). Candidate Specification Essential Criteria · PhD in chemistry or biochemistry or another relevant protein science related discipline (or equivalent experience) · Experimental knowledge and hands-on expertise in the expression and purification of recombinant proteins · Expertise in the analysis and characterisation of recombinant proteins using analytical, biochemical or biophysical techniques · Experience of working collaboratively in a high paced scientific environment with the ability to think independently and creatively Desirable Criteria (The following criteria may be applied if a large pool of applicants exists) · Additional academic or industrial experience in protein chemistry, structural biology or another relevant discipline · Knowledge or experience in protein engineering, protein modification or protein bioconjugation · Experience in the development of protein / antibody therapeutics or antibody / protein drug conjugates · Knowledge of target binder (e.g. VHH or antibody) generation including screening, humanisation and affinity maturation · Knowledge and experience of targeted protein degradation and PROTAC / MGD based therapeutics · Experience in ELISA based methods For more information on the various levels, including job specific responsibilities, please review the attached job descriptions.
