Responsibilities
* Provide a specialist Analytical service to ArcelorMittal South Africa with regard to routine and non-routine analysis of various solid and liquid samples, utilizing appropriate testing methods and techniques.
* Plan day to day tasks and priorities.
* Interpret results and report findings.
* Provide technical support/advice to ArcelorMittal South Africa.
* Commission new analytical instruments.
* Develop and validate analytical methods.
* Comply with all aspects of ISO17025 requirements.
* Comply with ISO14000 and related safety standards.
* Develop training material and coordinate training for subordinates.
* Conduct analytical fault finding and first line maintenance of analytical instruments.
* Liaise with customers and suppliers directly.
* Investigate customer complaints and internal detected errors.
* Purchase laboratory consumables (SAP system).
Qualification & Experience Requirements
Minimum: ND or HND (Chemical Engineering) (NQF 6/10)
Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.
Competence Requirements
Knowledge
* Experience in Production environment.
* Good knowledge of Safety.
* Sound knowledge of national and international specifications applicable to chemical testing.
* Good grasp of basic laboratory practices and testing.
* Excellent analytical chemistry knowledge and ability.
* Extensive knowledge of ISO 17025.
