Refuge Support Worker Hours: 17.5 per week - shifts are on a rota basis between the hours of 9:00am to 18.00pm Monday to Friday (days and times of shifts negotiable within these times) Location: Torfaen Salary: £23,500 per annum pro rata (rising to £24,000 after successful completion of 6-month probationary period) All staff must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of women and children. Compulsory participation in the 2nd Tier out of hours on-call rota Purpose of the post: To provide specialist support to women and children living within Gwent who are affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) Specific Responsibilities Deliver specialist support services to women and children who are accessing our services. Support women and children to undertake and engage in initial and on-going needs assessments, risk assessments, safety plans and support plans. Attend core group and other similar meetings when directed, ensuring completion of all tasks allocated to CWA. Follow up referrals and notifications from other agencies including police PPN reports. Support, signpost and refer women and children to the services they wish to engage with for example social services, the police, parenting, health, legal, DWP, housing, homelessness, recreational, educational and cultural services and also CWA’s other internal services. Work with women and children in an empowering and engaging manner, as set out in our Model of Support policy To assist, when directed, with the delivery of group and educational programmes. Ensure accurate and timely records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service and case work, including inputting information into our Information Management System. Assist in producing qualitative and quantitative data, including for example, the creation of case studies. Support women and children to have a voice within the organisation and the sector, by for example, encouraging them to complete surveys, give feedback and attend associated events. When working in Refuge Admit women and children into refuge and complete relevant paperwork with them. Support women to maintain licence agreement and help them prepare for moving on to independent living. Assist in ensuring the safe and effective running of our refuges including; organising house meeting; assisting with regular health and safety inspections, reporting general maintenance/repair requirements, occasional room cleaning.
