Overall Purpose of the Job
Our Apprentices will assist colleagues in the safe operation and delivery of work fully in accordance with Expro quality procedures and our customers’ expectations, whilst completing an apprentice qualification.
Key Activities and Accountabilities
1. Year 1: Completing PEO (Performing Engineering Operations) approximately 3 days per week at college and spend the remaining two days doing hands-on learning at the workshop.
2. Year 2: Spend approximately 2 days at college completing NC level qualification and start their Level 3 qualification. The remaining 3 days will consist of hands-on training in the workshop.
3. Year 3: Finish Level 3 and start HNC qualification on a day release with the majority of time spent in the workshop.
4. Year 4: Expected to finish their HNC whilst on a day release with the rest of the time continuing hands-on training in the workshop.
During this period, apprentices would obtain a SVQ Level 3 in Engineering Practice at SCQF Level 6 (in the workplace with monitoring and assessments by the College assessor) and on completion being awarded the SEMTA Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship Certification.
In addition to this, we expect the apprentice to attend day release at a designated further education college obtaining a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering Practice and in some instances, being sponsored to undertake a Diploma (HND).
Job Knowledge and Qualifications
What is expected of you:
* National 5 grades or expected grades of A or B in Maths and preferably National 5 grades in English and a Science subject (or equivalent).
* Experience with a hands-on technical subject would be beneficial.
* Interest/participation in a technical/mechanical extra-curricular activity is preferred.
* Must have good communication skills.
* Be punctual, reliable and perform any reasonable duties expected throughout the period of the apprenticeship.
* Work positively to continually improve personal knowledge and experience.
