We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Solar PV Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in operating, maintaining, and cleaning our solar energy systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, along with hands-on experience using diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment, is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Clean solar panels and other system components to maintain optimal performance
* Perform routine inspections to identify and address any issues affecting panel cleanliness and efficiency
* Use appropriate cleaning methods and equipment to ensure panels are free from dirt, debris, and other contaminants
* Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities and system performance
* Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during all cleaning activities
* Perform routine maintenance and inspections of solar PV systems to ensure they are operating efficiently
* Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with solar PV systems, including electrical and mechanical components
* Conduct performance testing and analysis to identify and resolve system inefficiencies
* Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding system operation and maintenance
* Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field preferred
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in cleaning or maintenance roles, preferably in the solar or renewable energy industry
* Strong understanding of solar PV systems, including electrical and mechanical components, and importance of panel cleanliness
* A City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation, Testing & Inspection or similar, electrical course
* High Voltage Authorisation would be advantageous but not essential
* A full UK driving licence with a maximum of 3 points is essential due to the remote nature of the sites
* This role requires travelling and overnight stays, depending on site locations
Skills:
* Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting solar PV system issues
* Knowledge of industry standards, safety protocols, and best practices for cleaning solar panels
* Ability to use cleaning equipment and tools effectively and safely
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
