This is an opportunity for an experienced HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to work as part of a team of 4 staff reporting Microbiology/Virology results in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside; expertise in Virology/Molecular Microbiology would be preferential.
Applications are invited from experienced HCPC Scientists. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a busy diagnostic department, undertaking 600,000 investigations per annum, in the molecular microbiology/virology section of the Medical Microbiology Laboratory at Ninewells Hospital. Duties will include management of a subsection of the department, performance of diagnostic tests, validation of positive reports and telephoning out clinically significant results with provision of clinical advice. Successful candidates will be supported in attaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath).
Applicants must have HCPC registration. Weekends and evenings are worked as part of the normal roster. On attaining appropriate competences you will also join the clinical rota (under supervision) which includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.
The Department is approved by the Institute of Biomedical Science and NHS Education Scotland as a training laboratory. The department has UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189 standards.
