Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a nurse with a passion for wound care to join our team on a 12 month fixed-term contract or secondment. As a Nurse within the Wound Care Service, you will be mentored by tissue viability specialist nurses to develop your knowledge and skills in all aspects of wound management. Once competent and confident you will be carrying out assessments in different settings, including home visits, joint visits (both in patients' homes and GP surgeries), and clinics for non-housebound patients.
The Wound Care Service covers Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), therefore there is a requirement to travel across all of this area. We have an office in each area.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide assessment, treatment planning and advice for patients who have been referred into the Wound Care Service, with the support and guidance of the specialist nurses within the team. They will be working in a variety of community settings including patients' homes, clinics, GP practices, nursing and residential homes to support the delivery of excellent wound care across the Sirona care and health population. Patient visits may be undertaken alone or jointly with the nurses providing the patient's wound care.
The post requires a registered nurse with experience in community nursing, a passion for wound care, sound knowledge and skills set in lower limb wound management, wound care and pressure injury prevention, or willingness to develop these skills.
Assessments will include lower limb and vascular assessment (dopplers and toe pressures), pressure injury and pressure mapping assessments, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT/ VAC), general wound assessments.
