A fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join a thriving Clinical Health Psychology Service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative adaptable practitioner psychologist keen to develop experience, knowledge and skills in working in Paediatric Medical Specialties. Contributing to the care provided by a range of multidisciplinary specialist services including the paediatric diabetes team. We are advertising a fixed term maternity cover post until Jan 2025. The postholder will work alongside other psychologists in the paediatric diabetes team, including a consultant lead.

Main duties of the job
To provide psychology services into the paediatric diabetes service including direct and indirect clinical work.
1. To provide psychological services including assessment, formulation and implementation of psychological interventions for children/young people and their families within the diabetes service.
2. Deliver these services in ward-based and out-patient settings as needed.
3. Provision of psychological advice, consultation, training, and support for other professionals working across this care pathway as assigned by the Specialist Clinical Psychologist, Cluster Lead or Head of Services.
4. Support with development and evaluation of the service.

Education and Qualification
Essential
* Qualified Clinical or Counselling psychologist and registered with HCPC as a practitioner psychologist
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
* Experience of clinical work with children, young people and families within a CAMHS setting
* Experience of presenting psychological formulations, assessments and interventions to multi-professional teams
* Experience of formal teaching/presentation sessions to health and other professionals
Desirable
* Experience of clinical work with infants, children and/or young people or adults with acute/long term medical conditions
Skills and Abilities
Essential
* Able to assess the psychological needs of children, young people and adults including the use of cognitive and developmental psychometric tests in a physical health setting
* Able to generate systemic and individual formulations and interventions based on applying psychological theory to the complex information generated by the individual, child, family, health and social care systems
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the psychological implications of acute and long-term medical conditions for children, adults, young people and their families
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the roles of a clinical psychologist in relation to a patient/their family/the staff teams/and the wider organisational systems around them
* Ability to communicate highly complex psychological information to staff in an accessible manner (written, verbal, electronic)
