SF Recruitment are working with a business based in Solihull who are looking for an Imports Manager to join the team Office based £50,000 - £60,000 Job Summary: The Imports Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end importation process, ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders. This role involves close collaboration with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to ensure timely delivery while minimising costs and mitigating risks. Key Responsibilities: Import Operations: Oversee the importation process, including scheduling shipments, managing documentation, and ensuring timely clearance through customs. Supplier Management: Maintain strong relationships with overseas suppliers, negotiating terms and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Compliance: Ensure all import activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and trade agreements, including UK customs and HMRC requirements. Cost Management: Optimise freight and import costs through supplier negotiations and by identifying cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain. Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure accurate stock levels and timely replenishment. Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve any issues related to shipping delays, customs clearance, or supplier performance. Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to imports, ensuring efficiency and accuracy throughout the process. Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience in import management or international logistics In-depth knowledge of UK import/export regulations, including customs processes, tariffs, and trade compliance. Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Analytical mindset with a focus on cost efficiency and process improvement. Proficiency in relevant import / customs software Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
