Across this area we’re creating more space for nature by working in partnership with our farm tenants to restore rich and ecologically diverse habitats that support healthy soils, clean water, and vibrant, connected landscapes. The South Lakes Portfolio lies in the heart of the Lake District National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we care for some of the most spectacular and iconic parts of this much-loved landscape around Coniston, Hawkshead and Little Langdale. The portfolio has strong ties to Beatrix Potter, her beloved home of Hill Top and legacy of farms, buildings, land and Herdwick sheep. This includes the popular visitor destinations of Wray Castle, Hill Top House and the iconic Tarn Hows, which together welcome over 450,000 visitors each year. Our ambition is for all the land in the South Lakes to support a healthy and resilient natural landscape, which is enjoyed by all who visit.
