Responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of cardiac catheterization equipment.
Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates proficiency in the operation and maintenance, as specified by the manufacturer, of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsibilities include: setup, adjustment and operation of both diagnostic and interventional equipment used in the Kent Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
2. Calibrate equipment routinely and troubleshoot minor problems as needed. Report issues to the Lead Cardiovascular Technician. Monitor and record service visits.
3. Adjusts cameras as necessary; clean and lubricate them routinely; store CD’s.
4. Receive and position patients. Monitor hemodynamics including blood pressure and EKG during procedure and notify physician of any changes.
5. Respond to emergencies during catheterization procedures. Maintain BLS and ACLS certification.
6. Maintain the area and equipment in a clean, safe and functional manner.
7. Maintain and order supplies as necessary to perform job function.
8. Under the direction of a qualified physician and in the presence of a Registered Nurse may pull femoral sheaths after completion of the competency checklist.
9. Assist with the transport of patients as needed.
10. Assist the physician during the procedure as needed, i.e. scrub in on procedures.
11. Participate with the Lead Cardiovascular Technologist with inventory management and acquisition of supplies.
12. Participate in on-call as assigned for emergencies.
13. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
An Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences or a minimum of one year’s job-related experience or equivalent is required. Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist preferred. Must have experience working with biomedical and diagnostic equipment.
