We are currently looking for a dedicated SEMH Support Assistant to join one of our partner schools in the Manchester area.
As a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Support Assistant, your main focus will be to support students facing challenges related to their social, emotional, or mental health. You will be a key part of the school’s efforts to help these students overcome barriers, develop coping mechanisms, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* One-on-One Support: Provide individualized assistance to students with SEMH needs.
* Emotional Guidance: Help students develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
* Behavioural Support: Work with students to improve their behaviour and engagement in school.
* Team Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to implement effective support strategies.
* Progress Tracking: Monitor and report on student progress, making adjustments as needed.
* Safe Environment: Contribute to creating a positive, nurturing, and secure environment for all students.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience: Prior experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
* Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to student support.
* Resilience: The ability to remain calm and proactive in challenging situations.
* DBS Check: An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
