What's involved with this role: Interim Children's Home Registered Manager Job Ref: Bradford 5256112 Pay Rate: £401.61 per day PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2 months City: BRADFORD Enhanced DBS disclosure required May be required to will work evenings and weekends As an approved Children’s Home Registered Manager, you will ensure the highest standards of practice, compliance with the National Children’s Home Regulations (2015), Children’s Homes Quality Standards (2015), and internal policies. You will support the Children’s Residential Service to achieve the best outcomes for young people, ensuring legislative and regulatory requirements, including HR, Health & Safety, and Environmental Health, are met. Your primary goal will be to ensure the home meets all regulatory standards to achieve Ofsted ratings of Good or Outstanding. Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop creative care plans for children with complex needs, including those stemming from trauma and attachment issues, ensuring their emotional and relational needs are met. Manage the home to safeguard and promote the well-being of children, including acting as the designated safeguarding lead and supporting staff in ensuring the safe return of any missing young people. Ensure the home operates in line with Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), aiming for ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings. Lead Regulation 44 monitoring visits and Ofsted inspections, supporting staff in the process and addressing any feedback provided. Develop and implement action plans following Regulation 44 visits or Ofsted inspections and complete Regulation 45 Quality of Care Reviews to inform the Children’s Home Development Plan. Oversee the home’s staff development and training program to ensure staff are skilled to meet the needs of the young people, as defined by the Home Statement of Purpose. Provide formal and informal supervision to staff and conduct performance appraisals. Key requirements: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Children & Young People’s Residential Management Pathway) or equivalent (as per ANNEX A, April 2015). Strong understanding of SEN and disabilities, including profound intellectual & physical disabilities. Familiarity with key reports & multi-agency guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018). Awareness of trauma-informed care, attachment issues, and behavioural & mental health support. At least 2 years as a Registered Manager (Ofsted-regulated). Minimum 2 years in residential child care. At least 1 year supervising and managing care staff. At least 6 months in the past year as an RM in a Children’s Home for Children with Disabilities. Experience in care planning & quality assurance at a Registered Manager level.
