We’re seeking a motivated Assistant Asset Engineer to join our Tactical Asset Planning team (Waste Networks). This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the tactical direction of our wastewater network, working across data enablement and solution development to make a real impact on our essential infrastructure.

In this role, you’ll be using your analytical skills to translate complex data into actionable insights. You'll be part of a dynamic team, collaborating with specialists to optimise network performance across catchments. You'll play a pivotal role in enabling effective solutions to complex wastewater network challenges, ensuring long-term network health and optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilise data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, VBA, Power Apps, or similar) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in asset performance data.
2. Develop compelling data visualisations to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
3. Contribute to the development and implementation of data quality assurance processes, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
4. Assist in the review and scoping of current and new data tools and trackers, evaluating their maturity and identifying opportunities for improvement.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions to address identified asset issues and challenges.
6. Contribute to the development of 1-5 year tactical investment plans, considering risk across the network and prioritising interventions.
7. Support the technical feasibility assessment and cost-benefit analysis of proposed solutions.
8. Assist in the development of project plans and business cases for approved solutions.
Hybrid Role (Data Analyst & Solution Development):
This role can be tailored to focus primarily on either data enablement or solution development, or ideally a hybrid of the two, depending on the candidate's strengths and interests. We are looking for individuals who are adaptable and eager to contribute across both areas.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
A keen interest in wastewater networks and a desire to contribute to their sustainable management.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Technical Skills: Civil Engineering experience that includes strong analytical skills, some experience in data analysis / data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, VBA, Power Apps, or similar)
2. A foundational understanding of asset management principles. Experience with hydraulic modelling, risk assessment methodologies, or cost-benefit analysis would be a plus.
3. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems, analyse root causes, and develop innovative and data-driven solutions.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
5. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, contributing to a positive and productive team environment.
6. Adaptability: A willingness to learn new skills and contribute across different areas of the Tactical Asset Planning process in data enablement and solution development.
7. Initiative: A proactive approach to problem-solving and a desire to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
