Job Responsibilities
* To accept referrals and liaise, where appropriate, with the referral agency. To assess the suitability of residents through interview and offer placements accordingly.
* To offer advice and informal counselling to service users.
* To support service users in understanding and abiding by their occupancy agreement.
* To implement team decisions regarding service users.
Domestic Responsibilities
* To ensure together with the staff team that service user’s tasks are completed daily.
* To carry out minor repairs as required and report any necessary repairs to management.
* To take responsibility for keeping staff areas clean when on duty.
* To participate in the preparation of foodstuffs as required, as well as ensuring the kitchen area is kept clean.
* To ensure accommodation rules are enforced, and to be responsible for the security of the building while on duty.
* To develop neighbour and community relations as well as a sense of responsibility amongst service users, arbitrating between service users in the event of any neighbourhood conflicts to settle any issues.
Administration Responsibilities
* Ensure correct referral procedures are maintained. Collect and record rent where necessary and issue receipts. Be responsible for and monitor Benefits Agency and Housing Benefits claims. Participate in general hostel administration.
* To participate in the collation of statistical and monitoring information.
Meetings
* Participate in and implement decisions from team meetings and case reviews as required.
Training
* To participate in training, supervision and appraisal, as required.
General Responsibilities
* To build constructive and realistic relationships with service users.
* To develop, in conjunction with service users, support plans that meet their needs and allow them to become an active member of their community.
* To encourage residents to participate in as wide a range of activities and interests as possible.
* To support the organisation in any fundraising events.
* To undertake any other duties deemed necessary by the Senior Support Worker.

Experience Requirements
Experience of working in the social care environment would be desirable. All successful candidates must be registered or prepared to be registered with SSSC.
