As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for an Industrial Placement Student to join our engineering team at Ditton, Cheshire for 12 months from August/September 2025. This placement is an excellent opportunity to experience life on a manufacturing site and gain exposure to a wide variety of typical process plant equipment used in batch-processing as well provide a platform in which to develop technical skills. The main purpose of this role is to design and implement improvements on site to address safety, environmental and operational issues.
You will be responsible for achieving operational excellence through innovation, efficiency optimisation whilst maintaining high SHE and quality standards on site.

* You will need to be a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage and plan your own workload.
* Teamwork, strong communication skills, attention to detail and problem analysis are essential for this role.
* You will be a Chemical Engineering undergraduate finishing their second or third year working towards 2.1 or higher.
* Previous work experience within the chemical industry is desirable but not essential.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Be part of a site team that values diversity, sustainability, and continuous innovation, where your ideas and contributions matter. In this position, you will work within the onsite engineering function aiming to deliver a varied array of short term and long term objectives to support manufacturing. Under the guidance of Process Engineers:
* Provide operational support to the manufacturing plants; troubleshooting within a fast-paced environment to assure production continuity. Installing plant modifications to improve operational and safety issues facing plant operators.
* Support delivery of small to medium sized capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, from initial design concept and sizing, cost estimation, business case through to installation and commissioning.
* Implementation and driving Process Safety methodologies for small modification through to full plant Process Risk Reviews. Support onsite hazard studies as scribe and design engineer roles. Provide technical sizing capabilities to support pressure relief system sizing. Executing remedial actions arising from Process Safety activities with innovative solutions to reduce risk at minimal cost and disruption to the business.
* This role will be an excellent opportunity to work alongside a range of departments and disciplines – EC&I engineering, mechanical engineering, maintenance technicians, process operators, external contractors, and process development scientists, among others. This will be ideal for understanding the role a multi-skilled Process Engineer plays in the successful operation of a manufacturing site.
