Brief Description
Manage the daily performance of the local operations team within resources and budgets, ensuring operational safety and quality train service delivery.
Please Note: This role requires Security vetting before any offer can be made.
THIS IS A 12-MONTH SECONDMENT WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF PERMANENT TRANSITION
Role Details (External)
Key Accountabilities:
* Lead and mentor the local operations team, implementing NR policies efficiently.
* Act as Rail Incident Officer when required, overseeing incident response and coordination.
* Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, including maintenance teams, TOCs, and FOCs.
* Manage resources and budgets to deliver train services, including during disruptions.
* Implement contingency plans to maximize train performance.
* Develop local emergency plans in line with route requirements.
* Monitor maintenance activities to ensure train service performance.
* Manage operational budgets and procurement processes.
* Ensure compliance with operational procedures and manage competency assessments.
* Respond to incidents affecting infrastructure in coordination with Network Rail Control.
* Coordinate Mobile Operations Managers strategically during service disruptions.
* Specify, allocate, and maintain response vehicles and equipment.
* If qualified, work in signal boxes as directed.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

* Assessment and Rail Incident Officer competencies
* Decision-making and assertiveness

* Organizational skills
* Full driving license
* Box competencies (if qualified)
Desirable:
* Financial and budget understanding
* Commercial awareness
* IT and report writing skills
* Knowledge of railway industry structure
* Employee relations experience
* Investigatory skills (Root Cause Analysis)
*Postholder must attain relevant competencies prior to activity.
