The School and Role
The school is looking to recruit an outstanding English and Performing Arts Teacher! They are seeking an ambitious, energetic, and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of their pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD, and associated complex needs.
You will be teaching in an SEN Secondary setting across Key Stages. You will work with class sizes of between 5-10 young people and will teach no more than 25 lessons per week. The majority of your time will be spent teaching English, with a smaller amount of time teaching Performing Arts (Music, Drama, and Art).
The school is a purpose-built day school for young people with autistic spectrum disorders, accommodating up to 70 students. The modern building includes classrooms for specialist subjects such as information technology, art, food technology, science, and music, along with sensory and therapy rooms.
Main responsibilities:
* Carry out professional duties as outlined in the latest School Teachers Pay and Conditions document, adhering to professional standards for qualified teachers and upholding the General Teaching Council for England's professional code.
* Teach a class of pupils, ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
* Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
* Provide timely and accurate reports to stakeholders, including SLT, Governors (as required), and parents/carers.
* Provide accurate assessments of learning and progress, matched against aspirational and appropriate targets.
* Promote the school's mission statement, developing potential, touching hearts, and engaging minds.
