Job Description
Position: Lead Scaffolder
Location: Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Reports To: Principal Maintenance Manager
Role Overview
As the Scaffolding Manager, you will lead the planning, setup, and management of all scaffold structures required for our maintenance activities. You’ll be responsible for coordinating the scaffold crew, overseeing the safe and efficient erection and dismantling of scaffolds, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and collaborating closely with both internal teams and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a small team of scaffolders, allocating daily tasks and supervising all aspects of scaffold construction and dismantling.
* Conduct risk assessments, plan scaffold requirements, inspect materials, and audit structures to ensure compliance with TG20 and BS EN 12811-1 safety standards.
* Enforce Thalia’s health and safety regulations, develop safety plans, and maintain thorough records of all scaffold activities, inspections, and maintenance.
* Work closely with the maintenance team and other project supervisors to align scaffold setups with overall maintenance schedules and objectives.
* Manage scaffolding materials, handle ordering, and ensure proper stock levels for ongoing projects.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
* Level 2 NVQ in Accessing Operations and Rigging (Scaffolding)
* Rope Access and Confined Space Entry Qualification
* Forklift/Telehandler license preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience managing scaffolding in Energy from Waste or similar industrial environment
* Strong leadership and planning skills with a focus on safety and team collaboration
* Extensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance standards
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
